WHAT THE GORRAM HELLS IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE. Okay, look, if you think that global warming doesn't exist at this point, you're ignoring everything obvious in the world around you. if you think it exists but that it won't be as extreme and horrid as some scientists say, that is your deal. But not showing an educational movie about how we might KILL OUR PLANET because it doesn't show the Earth's end as being an aramageddon?
You know, I have dealt with some shit like this my whole life. Yes, I DO think people should be allowed to have their beliefs and not be cornered by other, opposing viewpoints. But can we let people have their beliefs and use that as a defense to not EDUCATE them? If you believe the world is flat, someone will bitchslap you with a globe, that's how it is. At some point, no matter what your beliefs are, you need to realise that HUMANS HAVE AN EFFECT ON THEIR PLANET.
And you know, for all the "present both sides" things, fuck that shit. scioence class is for motherfucking science, CHURCH is for church stuff. CHEESE AND FUCKING CRACKERS people, if I want to ask someone how my beliefs fit in with all the science I am learning, I go to a MINISTER, PRIEST, RABBI, OR WHOEVER THE FUCK RUNS MY FAITH SYSTEM. that is NOT the job of your 75 year old biology teacher.
The whole point in movies/documentaries like this are to get the discussion going, to bring it to the front of your mind. So watch the fucking movie in class, then go home and say "hey dad, how does that work with the whole 'Bible' thing?" and do so WITHOUT your dad then demanding that the film be removed or that it should be shown along with the fucking "ten commandments"
GOD DAMN IT PEOPLE, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU. you know what I thought was pretty wrong and controversial when I was in school? I had to say the american pledge of allegiance, even though I was Canadian. I had to read fucking GREAT EXPECTATIONS, even though I BELIEVE that Dickens can suck a huge cock, as he is the worst writer ever in existance.
Sometimes we have to do shit we don't believe or agree with because that is how life is. and if you actually HOLD the beliefs you say you do, and you are steadfast, then no number of movies or books or lectures will shake it. and if you are shaken, and ask questions, you will come out with either new and better beliefs, or a stronger resolve that you already have the right ones.
I am also sick and tired of every damn group of people claiming that they are being treated unfairly at every turn. GUESS WHAT, I DON'T GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY. even thought I am not in church
- every fucking store in the state is closed for you. I have shit to get done, and things I need to buy. instead, I do something else in the morning, until you get out of church and make some nice traffic jams while everything opens in wait for you and your massive ammounts of followers.
- trying to go out to lunch on Sunday is impossible because of you.
- I have been told on more than one occasion, IN SCHOOL, that I will go to hell because I do not attend church. This started at age EIGHT. but my beliefs were stong enough that I went home, and told m parents, was comforted, and moved on. they didn't call the school district asking that an oppising view be told to that child. I didn't go over to her and explain in detail how her body would decompose. I mean SERIOUSLY.
I UNDERSTAND how hard it can be to have beliefs in a secular place, because I do the exact oppisite of that EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE. Where can I go for shelter? if you are confronted by somethign you don't like, you have a church of any kind you want, filled to the brim with people who will agree with you. but where do I go? to a science class where the teacher is forced to tell me that he agrees with me, but also has to present the "theory" that armageddon will ruin the planet?
and honestly, are we suprised there is such a lack of teachers anymore? WHO THE FUCK wants to have the job of presenting that shit to kids who have already had their minds made up for them by their parents?
GGGGAAAAAHHHHHHHH. I'm going to turn over a car and light it on fire, I swear.
oh, and one last thing
of Al Gore - "He's not a schoolteacher". neither is a priest, neither is this parent. but you know what he HAS been that none of them have been? VICE PRESEIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. If you really believe we can learn nothing which is presented by someone who is not a school teacher, what are you doing reading that Bible anyway?

FESTIVUS PLANS
as we did last year, my lovely friends and I will be having a hoilday party. not for Christmas, or the day of the dead, or anything else observed by a religion. No, we celebrate FESTIVUS.
for those of you who do not watch Seinfeld, festivus was a holiday created by Mr. Kastanza in response to the over-marketed holidays. there is a great feast, tests of stregnth, and the airing of greviences. instead of a tree, you have a tall, plain, silver pole.
NOW. those of you who live in Boone(or have the names kiley, jubal, or dana) should pay attention. festivus will take place on the evening of December 3, 2005. we'll be doing a gift exchange this year, and it will be a "secret santa" kind of thing. the price limit on gifts is $20. any of you who would like to join in should let me know, like, NOW. we'll draw names before Sunday. so far, the following people are in:

George is fabulous, but refuses to play KoL. it make me sad right in my heart. the very DEPTHS of my soul.
Lowe's apparently can't properly recieve online applications, but doesn't have paper ones. so...what the hell?
sometimes, iced mocha java makes life worth living. today it's worth living anyway, but the java helps nonetheless.
Scottness is awesome. I keep looking at my poster for the hitchiker's guide and smiling.

what not to write about
i'm too tired.
so I am not going to write about how happy I am to see Tracy again. I won't type pages about how I feel about London and the fact that Sarah was there about a week ago. I refuse to blather on and on about politics or any number of things htat would upset myself or someone else. I won't share about my trip with Jack, and that we had a really good 2 hour conversation about every topic I could think of. I won't bore you with a link, a quiz, or an interesting news article or photo. I am not going to tell you all how much I miss and love martin, or how much time i've spent avoiding conflicts this week, or why we have a tent set up on my porch. I'm not going to show you all my new hair cut and necklace, both from sarah.
I'm just too sleepy.

july 4th
we (laura, sayrah, scott and i) went to the big JC yesterday, to have a little shindig with laura's family. her family is SO CUTE!! hopey is nice, TJ is like a little kid but a very good griller, and ben is just plain adorable. we ate deliscious hamburgers, hotdogs, and salmon. and cookie and lemonaid pie. then we went to watch the fireworks over at the school and ran into some of laura's friends. she's a social goddess.
listenign to david sedaris, int he car with 3 people i love and adore, watching the stars as the trees zoomed by...i really couldn't have asked for anything more, especially considering it's a holiday i don't normally celebrate.
best quote of the night came from hope and carrie (laura's sister and her roomie):

today is Canada day!!! for those of you whom don't know, it's "like the 4th of July" for Canada.

in OTHER news, today, since it is
such a holiday, Martin is driving me home and hving dinner with my
parents and I. I will stay home till Sunday, and then either ride
back with Scottness or my parents. So I have to clean before we leave just in case the parents decide to stay here overnight or something.
also, TRACY AND SAYRAH ARE BACK IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh man, oh man
today was the best friggin day. wow.
-ate GOOD food george cooked
-played kingdom hearts with martin
-went swimming with jenna, laura, george, and martin and puppies
-played more games
-watched the nightmare before christmas
-TOTALLY did it with laura (by "it" i mean went and got cherry coke)
-will be sleeping next to Martin.
i tell you, i am happy.

today's plan
yesterday was fun, with the boating and the eating of wendy's and whatnot. kiley came by, but only for like 10 minutes - which is one reason today will be more awesome than yesterday:
-get up, take shower, eat breakfast
-play games and such with martin for a bit, maybe go to the parkway for a while, generally hang out
-lunch (yummmmy)
-other stuff to kill time until the drive
-drive to Elizabethton/Johnson City
-meet up with Laura, eat Pal's.
-go to drive-in to see Madagascar with kiley, jubal, Laura, and Martin
-have a shit-ton of fun
-drive back to Boone
-hang out more
-go back to bed

brief, or not
I intend this to be brief, but we'll see if that is what happnes or not.
Scott was here for a bit this week, which was lvoely. Scott is the MAN, you guys. I'm not even kidding. Also, all the kids here have been visiting my place a lot so far this summer, which makes me happy. I was worried it'd end up being just laura, george, lila and I all the time. i love them, but it is nice to add in jenna, jack, ryan, etc into the equation.
Kristin came up recently, but i didn't get to see her, which made me very sad. I haven't seen her in months, and I always forget to call her until is it much too late in the day and she is probably asleep. LAME. I suck.
Martin is comming to visit for about TEN DAYS tomorrow. he should get here around dinner time, which will be good. the only thing planned so far is a drive-in movie with Laura and perhaps Kiley and Jubal, in Elizabethton on Saturday night. which would ROCK MY FACE, as I have never been to a drive-in and love all people who will/may be involved.
my parents may come visit for a night, but we don't know yet. i might hitch a ride home with martin and stay in FV for a day or two, for Canada day, and have them drive me back here, stay for a night, and then leave me to celebrate TRACY AND SARAH comming back.
I have my biology exams on Thursday, but they shouldn't be too bad. the lecture exam is on fossils, evolution, natural selection, and such things; the lab final is on all 11 labs we covered this year, but shouldn't be too rough as a multiple choice test (all the quizes have been short answer, so I am just glad it's not that!)
